This separation is mainly based on the size of particles or molecules , but the permeability of the membrane material will also be affected by the chemical, molecular and charge characteristics of the sample. The Tangential flow ultrafiltration cassette is usually used to separate molecules with a size difference of more than 3-5 times, and is not suitable for molecules of similar size.
